Omoro County Member of Parliament Andrew Ojok Oulanyah has been designated as the new Chairperson of Parliament's Committee on ICT and National Guidance, placing him at the helm of one of the House's key sectoral committees responsible for overseeing Uganda's ICT, digital transformation, media, and national guidance agenda.
He will be deputized by Hon. Hajji Iddi, the Member of Parliament for Bushenyi-Ishaka, who has been appointed Deputy Chairperson of the committee.
The appointments come as Parliament constitutes its committees for the new term, with legislators taking up oversight responsibilities across various government sectors.
As chairperson, Oulanyah will lead scrutiny of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, review sector policies and budgets, examine legislation relating to information and communication technology, and oversee government agencies operating under the ministry. The committee also plays a central role in monitoring initiatives aimed at expanding digital services, strengthening government communication, and improving access to ICT across the country.
Oulanyah, who represents Omoro County, entered Parliament after winning the constituency seat in a by-election before securing another term in the 2026 general elections. He has previously worked in Uganda's ICT sector and holds a background in computer science and ICT management, experience expected to complement his new parliamentary leadership role.
The Committee on ICT and National Guidance is expected to begin work in the coming weeks as parliamentary committees settle into their oversight responsibilities for the new legislative session.
