Uganda’s comedy industry is refusing to slow down and Anne Kansiime is still at the center of the fire.
Weeks after her explosive “Comedy Grill” at Sheraton Gardens, the show is STILL trending in entertainment circles after fans flooded social media with clips of comedians tearing into each other live on stage.
The night turned chaotic with roast after roast flying across the stage as big comedy names including Anne Kansiime, Patrick Salvado Idringi, Madrat & Chiko, Gaetano Kaggwa and Sheila Gashumba exchanged savage jokes in front of a roaring Kampala crowd.
One of the biggest talking points came when Madrat and Chiko reportedly threw playful jabs at Skylanta during the roast, sending the audience into nonstop laughter.
The event, backed by Uganda Waragi, was marketed as Uganda’s first major celebrity comedy roast and insiders in the entertainment industry say it may have opened a completely new lane for Ugandan comedy shows.
Meanwhile, comedy promoter and Comedy Store boss Alex Muhangi is also back in headlines after renewed conversations around his influence on Uganda’s stand-up scene and comedian organizing efforts.
Online, TikTok comedy creators are also continuing to rise fast, with comedian MC Stubborn gaining fresh attention for viral skits centered on Kampala street life and Ugandan social behavior.
Comedy insiders now say Uganda’s comedy industry is entering another serious commercial era with brands, nightlife promoters and digital creators all fighting to cash in on the laughter business.
