dramatic security operation unfolded in Wakaliga on Monday morning after former Kampala Lord Mayor and PFF president Erias Lukwago was picked up by armed operatives following an overnight siege at his residence.

According to reports from the scene, Lukwago’s home was surrounded by security personnel, including uniformed soldiers and plain-clothed operatives. He earlier revealed that multiple vehicles, including the commonly known security “drones,” had been stationed outside his gate, preventing him from leaving his residence.

Witnesses reported that some operatives later entered the compound after scaling the perimeter wall before Lukwago was taken into custody. Footage and updates shared by local broadcasters indicated that security operatives had indeed raided the residence and removed him from the premises.

At the time he first raised the alarm, Lukwago said he had not been informed why security forces had surrounded his home and that no officer had explained the purpose of the operation.

Later reports from local media indicated that he was taken to Naggalama Police Station, although no formal charges or official statement explaining his detention had been released by either the police or the military.

The development comes amid heightened political tensions and ongoing legal proceedings in which Lukwago serves as a lead defense lawyer for opposition figure Kizza Besigye. Some observers have linked the timing of the operation to recent court-related developments, but there is currently no official confirmation connecting the detention to any specific case.

As of now, the reason for Lukwago’s arrest or detention remains unclear. This is a developing story, and further details are expected once security agencies issue an official statement.
