The emotional farewell of late singer Master Parrot has revealed just how much Uganda’s music fraternity rallied behind one of its own.
Speaking during the burial arrangements, UNMF president Eddy Kenzo disclosed that musicians collectively contributed between UGX 5 million and UGX 6 million to facilitate Master Parrot’s burial, while the singer’s family reportedly managed to raise only UGX 800,000.
Kenzo’s revelation sparked conversations among mourners about the challenges many artists face behind the scenes, even after years in the entertainment industry.
But amid the grief, a major gesture brought hope to the late singer’s family.
According to Kenzo, President Yoweri Museveni contributed UGX 10 million specifically to support the education of Master Parrot’s children following their father’s death.
The contribution was welcomed by mourners, musicians, and family members who gathered to celebrate the life of the veteran entertainer, whose death has left a painful gap in Uganda’s music industry.
Master Parrot, remembered for his humor, stage presence, and long-standing contribution to local entertainment, was laid to rest amid emotional tributes from fellow artists who described him as a humble and supportive colleague. Several musicians also made individual contributions to support the family during the difficult period.
As the curtains fall on Master Parrot’s final journey, the show of unity from Uganda’s music fraternity and the intervention to secure his children’s future has become one of the most talked-about moments from the burial.
