Fresh questions are swirling around the death of Lubega Fahad after Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) publicly confirmed that the customer is dead following an encounter that ended with police taking him into custody.
In a statement, DTB revealed that its final interaction with Lubega took place on June 2 at the bank’s Naalya branch in Kampala. According to the bank, police officers later assumed responsibility for the matter and took Lubega into custody for further investigations.
The development comes amid intense discussion on social media, where claims had circulated suggesting that Lubega was attacked by an angry mob at a DTB branch.
However, police have dismissed those reports.
Police spokesperson ASP Racheal Kawala reportedly clarified that no such mob attack incident was recorded at Kira Road Police Station, distancing the force from the viral claims that have been spreading online.

The period between June 2, when police took custody of him, and the announcement of his death has become the center of growing public interest, with many demanding answers about the circumstances surrounding the case.
DTB expressed condolences to Lubega Fahad’s family and loved ones, saying it sympathizes with those affected by the loss. The bank also pledged full cooperation with investigators as authorities continue to examine the matter.
For now, officials have not released details regarding the cause of death, leaving many unanswered questions as investigations continue.
The case remains under scrutiny as the public awaits further information from investigators on what transpired during Lubega Fahad’s time in custody.
