Warm tributes flowed across Uganda on Wednesday as First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni celebrated her 78th birthday, with family members, government officials and supporters honoring her remarkable journey in public service.

Born on June 24, 1948, Janet Museveni remains one of the country’s most influential figures, serving as Uganda’s First Lady, Minister of Education and Sports, and founder of the Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO), an organization that has supported vulnerable children for decades.

The birthday celebrations were accompanied by an outpouring of messages recognizing her role in shaping Uganda’s social and educational landscape alongside President Yoweri Museveni.

Among those paying tribute was Agriculture Minister Frank Tumwebaze, who described her as “the Mother of our Country,” applauding her leadership, wisdom and commitment to family values.

Supporters also highlighted her strong evangelical Christian faith, which has remained a defining part of her public life, as well as her long-standing advocacy for education and youth empowerment.

For many admirers, the occasion was not only a birthday celebration but also a moment to reflect on her decades of service, charitable work and influence in national affairs.

As messages continued to pour in throughout the day, well-wishers across the country wished the First Lady good health, happiness and many more years of service to Uganda.
