A government-supervised DNA investigation has dramatically reshaped the long-running inheritance dispute surrounding the estate of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Kafeero.

After forensic DNA testing conducted by the Uganda Police Forensic Directorate at Police Headquarters in Naguru, authorities confirmed that only four of the 25 individuals who claimed to be Kafeero's children are his biological offspring.

The confirmed biological children are Benedicto Kafeero, Simon Peter Kafeero, Thomas Swaz Kafeero, and Elizabeth Nagawa.

The DNA exercise was carried out to resolve years of paternity disputes that had stalled the administration of Kafeero's estate. The process was overseen by Director of Forensics Andrew Mubiru, with support from Minister Balaam Barugahara, who has been involved in efforts to help settle the family's longstanding legal wrangles.

The forensic findings now provide official scientific evidence that is expected to guide the next steps in the management and distribution of the late musician's estate. For the remaining 21 claimants, the DNA results did not establish a biological relationship with Paul Kafeero.

The announcement marks a significant milestone in a case that has attracted public attention for years, bringing greater clarity to one of Uganda's most talked-about family inheritance disputes involving a celebrated music icon.
