Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro has been nominated for the prestigious 3rd International Women Parliament Awards, set to take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she will represent Uganda in the Governance and Leadership category.
The International Women Parliament Awards recognize outstanding women leaders from around the world who have made significant contributions to governance, public service, policymaking, and women's empowerment. The 2026 edition is scheduled to coincide with the International Day of Parliamentarism in September, bringing together women parliamentarians, policymakers, and leaders from dozens of countries.
Nyamutoro's nomination marks another milestone in her public service career. She has gained national prominence through her work as Uganda's Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development (Minerals) and for her advocacy on youth inclusion, women's empowerment, and leadership.
The Governance and Leadership category honors women whose leadership has demonstrated impact in public administration, policymaking, and national development. Her nomination places her among women leaders from across the globe being recognized for their contributions to advancing good governance and inclusive leadership.
