Ibrahim Kasule’s American adventure has come to an end.
New York Red Bulls II have announced that they have mutually agreed with Ugandan midfielder Ibrahim Kasule to terminate his contract, paving the way for the talented playmaker to return home and continue his career in Uganda.
Kasule leaves New York after a remarkable three-season spell in which he established himself as one of the most productive players in the club’s history.
The Buikwe-born midfielder made 64 appearances, scored 28 goals and provided 11 assists, becoming Red Bulls II’s all-time leading scorer.
His breakthrough campaign came in 2023 when he scored 15 goals and was named to the MLS NEXT Pro Best XI. He also won the league’s Player of the Month award in July that year after a sensational run of form.
Kasule later cemented his place in club history with a hat-trick against Crown Legacy FC in June 2025, taking his league tally beyond former record-holder Brandon Allen.
The midfielder also earned opportunities with the senior New York Red Bulls, making his MLS debut after being handed short-term agreements for first-team matches.
His departure comes after Red Bulls II initially loaned him to Connecticut United FC for the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season. The January move was expected to give Kasule a fresh challenge with the expansion side.
Kasule has already made an impact with Connecticut United this year, where the Ugandan midfielder scored for the club during the 2026 campaign.
Now, however, his contract situation has opened the door for a return to Uganda.
Kasule previously played for Wakiso Giants in the Uganda Premier League before making the move abroad. He had scored five goals and registered six assists during the 2022/23 campaign before leaving Uganda.
He also remains part of the Uganda Cranes setup, having earned two senior international appearances and featured in the country’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
For Kasule, the next chapter could therefore mark a major homecoming for one of Uganda’s most exciting young midfielders.
After conquering the scoring charts in New York, the spotlight is now back on Uganda as Kasule prepares for what comes next.
