A fresh storm has exploded on social media after former Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi publicly announced that she has referred a dispute involving Ugandan music star Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, to her lawyers.
In a statement posted on X, Jolly Mutesi told the public that she had not taken allegations allegedly made against her by Bebe Cool lightly and had instructed her legal counsel, Mbidde & Co. Advocates, to handle the matter.
The move came after a legal notice surfaced online, showing lawyers acting on behalf of Mutesi accusing Bebe Cool of publishing statements that allegedly linked her to fraud and scamming activities.
According to the legal document, Mutesi's lawyers argue that the allegations are false, defamatory, and damaging to her reputation. The notice further states that their client has never had any dealings or relationship with Bebe Cool and denies any connection to a telephone number that was reportedly mentioned in the dispute.
The lawyers also claim that the disputed phone number had previously been publicly identified as being used by fraudsters and that Mutesi had earlier warned the public about individuals allegedly misusing her identity.
In the strongly worded notice, Bebe Cool is reportedly asked to cease further publication of the allegations, issue a public retraction, publish an apology, and disclose the source of the information relied upon. The document warns that legal proceedings could follow if the demands are not met within the stated timeframe.
