The Ugandan entertainment industry is drowning in grief following the tragic death of legendary singer Master Parrot, but not everyone is comfortable with the flood of emotional tributes now filling social media.

As artists, fans, promoters and media personalities continue celebrating the legacy of the “Muliro” hitmaker, singer Mudra D Viral has publicly expressed disappointment with how the veteran musician was treated while he was still alive.

Master Parrot, born David Sifaayo, reportedly died after a fatal road accident along Kampala’s Northern Bypass, a tragedy that has sent shockwaves through Uganda’s music fraternity. The veteran singer was widely remembered for iconic hits such as Muliro, Ekikompola and Maama Wabaana, songs that helped define an era of Ugandan music.

However, amid the mourning, Mudra D Viral says many people are ignoring an uncomfortable truth.

In recent months, disturbing videos and photos of Master Parrot had circulated online, showing the once-celebrated musician struggling through difficult personal circumstances. Reports and social media discussions had raised concerns about his wellbeing and mental state long before his death.

Mudra questioned why so many people are now posting lengthy eulogies and emotional messages when very few appeared willing to support the singer during those challenging moments. According to posts circulating online, the artist expressed frustration with creatives and fans who were quick to type “RIP” but silent when Master Parrot’s struggles were visible to the public.

The comments have triggered a wider conversation across social media, with some agreeing that Uganda’s entertainment industry often celebrates legends after death while neglecting them during difficult periods.

Others have defended the industry, arguing that many people may have offered support privately without publicizing it.

Despite the debate, one thing remains clear: Master Parrot’s passing has reopened painful questions about how veteran artists are treated after their time in the spotlight fades.

As family, friends and fellow musicians continue preparations to honor his life, many fans are remembering not only the music he left behind but also the struggles that became visible in his final months. His death has become more than a moment of mourning, it has become a mirror reflecting uncomfortable realities within Uganda’s entertainment industry.
