Fresh claims have emerged suggesting that security agencies are investigating alleged financial links between Gen. Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party and former Speaker Anita Among.

According to security sources, investigators are looking into allegations that Among was instrumental in financing some ANT party activities, including providing support to selected parliamentary candidates during recent political campaigns.
The sources further allege that detectives are reviewing financial records and other material as they seek to establish whether any funds linked to Among were channelled into the opposition party. However, the extent of the alleged support and whether any laws were breached remain unclear.
Neither ANT nor Gen. Mugisha Muntu had publicly commented on the allegations by the time of publication. Likewise, security agencies had not issued an official statement confirming that such an investigation is underway.
The reported claims come as former Speaker Anita Among remains the subject of high-profile corruption and financial investigations by multiple state agencies over allegations including illicit enrichment, abuse of office and money laundering. Those investigations have continued in recent months, with authorities indicating that the inquiries are still ongoing.
If confirmed, the alleged inquiry into ANT’s finances would add a new political dimension to the wider investigations surrounding Among. However, at this stage the claims remain unverified, and no evidence has been made public linking ANT or its leadership to any wrongdoing.
The matter is expected to attract significant political attention should investigators or the affected parties issue official statements in the coming days.
