The new National Resistance Movement (NRM) administration has officially shifted from induction to implementation.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday chaired the first Cabinet meeting of Uganda's 2026–2031 administration, marking the formal start of government business following the Cabinet Induction Retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi.
The inaugural Cabinet session brought together Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State, Permanent Secretaries and other senior government officials responsible for driving the government's priorities over the next five years.
The meeting follows the swearing-in of the new administration earlier this month and the Cabinet induction programme, which was officially opened by President Museveni on June 15. During the retreat, ministers were oriented on government priorities, leadership principles, public service ethics and the strategic direction of the 2026–2031 administration.
While opening the Kyankwanzi retreat, President Museveni urged ministers to embrace integrity, discipline and ideological clarity, stressing that the central mission of the administration remains transforming Uganda through commercial agriculture, industrialization, value addition, services and ICT. He also called on leaders to focus on delivering tangible improvements in the lives of Ugandans and to intensify the fight against corruption.
Monday's Cabinet meeting is expected to set the pace for the new administration as ministers begin translating the commitments made during the induction retreat into government programmes and policy implementation.
