Shock and grief have swept through Uganda’s media industry after a devastating road accident claimed the life of a Next Media producer identified as Badru and left entertainment presenter Brian Macona fighting for his life.
The crash occurred along the Entebbe Expressway, where the two journalists were reportedly involved in a serious collision. Badru was pronounced dead at the scene, while Macona sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Kisubi Hospital for emergency treatment.
News of the tragedy spread rapidly across social media, with fellow journalists, entertainers and friends expressing disbelief and paying tribute to the deceased. Several colleagues, including media personalities Tabz and Bryan Aheebwa, shared emotional messages remembering Badru and calling on the public to pray for Macona’s recovery.
The accident has once again highlighted the dangers on Uganda’s roads, particularly major highways that continue to record fatal crashes despite ongoing road safety campaigns. Authorities have repeatedly urged motorists to observe speed limits, avoid reckless driving and remain vigilant, especially on high-speed expressways.
As tributes continue to pour in, colleagues have described Badru as a dedicated professional whose work behind the scenes contributed to many successful productions. Friends say they remain hopeful that Brian Macona will recover from his injuries.
