Former Kira Municipality legislator and People's Front for Freedom (PFF) Secretary General Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda remains in Saudi Arabia, according to reports circulating on social media and among political sources.
The reports claim Ssemujju left Uganda after learning of possible security action against opposition figures. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and no official statement has confirmed that he is wanted by security agencies or that an arrest warrant has been issued against him.
The speculation comes after Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba publicly warned that Ssemujju could be among the next opposition figures to face arrest following action taken against Erias Lukwago.
Additional claims circulating online allege that security agencies are investigating the financing of opposition political activities and the sources of funds used during recent PFF events. Those allegations, including claims linking senior political leaders and businessmen to financial transfers, remain unverified and have not been substantiated by official investigators or court proceedings.
Ssemujju has publicly stated that he traveled to Mecca for pilgrimage, and there has been no official communication indicating whether or when he intends to return to Uganda.
As of publication, neither Ssemujju nor Ugandan security authorities have publicly confirmed many of the allegations circulating online. The situation continues to develop.
