Ruhamya Kainerugaba has reportedly graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, one of the world's most respected military training institutions for officer cadets.
The milestone comes just months after Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba publicly announced that his son had begun the demanding officer training programme, sharing updates on his progress and expressing pride in his performance during the rigorous course.
Sandhurst is renowned for its intensive leadership and military training, producing officers for the British Army as well as selected international militaries. The academy's commissioning parades are among the most celebrated events in military circles, bringing together cadets, their families and senior military leaders to mark the completion of months of physically and mentally demanding training.
Ruhamya's graduation continues a notable family legacy. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba himself trained at Sandhurst, graduating in 2000 before embarking on a military career that eventually saw him rise to become Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces.
In May, Gen. Muhoozi introduced his son to the public as a Sandhurst cadet, writing that Ruhamya was "doing an excellent job" and asking Ugandans to keep him in their prayers. The announcement drew widespread attention, with many viewing the development as another chapter in the Museveni family's long-standing association with the Uganda People's Defence Forces.
The latest commissioning ceremonies at Sandhurst have seen international officer cadets graduate alongside their British counterparts after successfully completing the academy's demanding leadership programme, which emphasizes discipline, tactical competence and the academy's enduring motto, "Serve to Lead."
