Fresh speculation has gripped Uganda’s broadcasting industry after a viral social media post claimed that Capital FM is shifting its operations to Naguru Plaza, that the group’s Cooper Road property has been sold, and that NXT Radio has been “ditched” ahead of a collaboration involving former NXT Radio presenters and Capital FM personalities.
The post has generated widespread discussion among media followers, but as of now, there has been no official announcement from either Capital Radio Group or Next Media confirming those specific claims.
The rumours emerge just weeks after Capital Radio Group and Next Media publicly announced a strategic partnership aimed at expanding audience reach through content collaboration, cross-platform engagement and advertising solutions. At the time, both organisations stressed that they would maintain separate brands, editorial independence and operational structures rather than merge into a single company.
The announcement immediately sparked industry debate over what the long-term partnership could mean for Capital FM, Beat FM, KIIS FM and Next Media’s brands, including NXT Radio.
Since then, speculation has continued to grow, with unverified reports suggesting deeper operational integration between the two media companies. Some industry publications have also reported claims from unnamed sources alleging the relationship extends beyond the officially announced partnership, although neither company has confirmed any acquisition or transfer of ownership.
The latest viral post goes a step further by alleging that Capital FM will relocate to Naguru Plaza, that the Cooper Road property has been sold, and that former NXT Radio presenters could join forces with Capital FM talent.
