Kimberly Jael Aremo Acio is emerging as one of the most talked-about contestants in the inaugural Miss Universe Uganda competition, captivating supporters with a combination of academic excellence, natural confidence, and a strong message of youth empowerment.
The 19-year-old from Kole District in Northern Uganda first earned recognition as a high school valedictorian before taking an unexpected turn into pageantry. Rather than pursuing only the glamour associated with beauty contests, Kimberly says she was drawn to the Miss Universe platform because of its emphasis on advocacy and leadership.
Her campaign focuses on mentoring young people from underserved and overlooked communities, encouraging them to believe that their background should never limit their ambitions. Organisers have consistently highlighted Miss Universe Uganda as a platform that promotes purpose-driven leadership alongside beauty and cultural pride.
Kimberly has also impressed audiences during the competition with her runway appearances, showcasing elegant evening gowns and traditional attire that celebrate Uganda’s rich cultural heritage.
Public voting has generated significant excitement, with more than 244,000 votes cast across all contestants as fans continue backing their favourites. Voting remains open until July 31, with supporters allowed one vote per person each day through the official AfricaVotes platform.
The grand finale is scheduled for August 1 at Kampala’s Imperial Royale Hotel, where Uganda will crown its first-ever Miss Universe Uganda winner. The victor will go on to represent the country at the 75th Miss Universe competition, marking a historic milestone for Uganda’s participation on the global stage.
For Kimberly, the journey from a rural classroom to one of Uganda’s most prestigious stages has already become an inspiring story of resilience, ambition, and the belief that education and purpose can open doors far beyond expectations.
