SECURITY DRAMA! Senior Police Officers Reportedly Arrested Over Anita Among Raid Leak

Fresh drama has erupted inside Uganda’s security circles after reports emerged that two senior police officers were arrested and placed under investigation over alleged leaks connected to the high-profile raids on homes linked to former Speaker Anita Among.

According to information circulating among security and political sources, the officers are being investigated by intelligence agencies after allegedly tipping off aides connected to Among about planned searches targeting her residences and offices.

The claims remain officially unconfirmed, but the reports have intensified debate around the controversial anti-corruption operation that recently saw heavily armed security teams raid properties in Nakasero, Ntinda and Kigo.

Sources allege that shortly after a closed-door multi-agency security meeting, details of the operation were leaked, giving suspects enough time to allegedly move or conceal sensitive materials before investigators arrived.

That speculation grew louder after security teams reportedly recovered far less cash than many insiders had expected during the searches. However, authorities have publicly confirmed that several items, including electronic devices and documents, were seized during the operations.

The raids themselves shocked Kampala after police and UPDF operatives sealed off roads around Among’s Nakasero residence in a major operation linked to corruption and money laundering investigations. Witnesses described a massive deployment involving police pickups, vans and plain-clothed operatives.

The investigations come amid mounting pressure on anti-corruption agencies following complaints filed against Among over her wealth declarations. The Inspectorate of Government previously confirmed it had started processing complaints seeking investigations into her assets and income declarations.

Meanwhile, reports inside security circles claim more changes could soon hit parts of the security establishment as internal investigations widen into alleged information leaks and compromise of sensitive operations.

So far, neither the Uganda Police Force nor Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has officially issued a public statement confirming the alleged arrests of the officers mentioned in the reports.
