Shock and sadness have swept through Uganda’s media and community circles following the sudden death of Angella K. Hakiza, widely known on X as Angella Kabagambe.

Hakiza, who was best known for hosting Faith in Action on Uganda Catholic Television (UCTV), built a reputation as a warm, thoughtful communicator whose passion for storytelling touched many lives. News of her passing triggered an outpouring of grief from colleagues, friends, Rotarians, and members of the faith community.

Beyond television, Hakiza also worked with TV West and remained deeply involved in community service through the Rotary Club of Kigo. Over the years, she served in several leadership positions, including Club President and Youth Services Chair, where she championed mentorship, leadership development, and service projects aimed at uplifting communities.

Those who worked closely with her describe a woman whose smile, humility, and commitment to serving others made a lasting impact wherever she went.

Among the many voices mourning her loss is Rotary Club of Kigo CEO Jackie Akampwera, who expressed disbelief and heartbreak at the news, noting that Hakiza’s passing came far too early and leaves a painful gap in the lives of those who knew her.

Friends say Hakiza had a unique gift for bringing people together. Whether behind a television camera, at a Rotary event, or within church circles, she was known for encouraging others and giving a voice to stories that mattered.

As loved ones struggle to come to terms with the loss, funeral arrangements are already underway. A vigil is scheduled at her home today, followed by a funeral mass tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine. The body is expected to travel to Kisoro on Friday ahead of burial on Saturday.

While questions remain about the circumstances surrounding her sudden death, one thing is clear: Angella K. Hakiza leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, leadership, and compassion that will be remembered by many for years to come. Her voice may have fallen silent, but the lives she touched continue to tell her story.
