Uganda Airlines has unveiled plans to expand its regional network with the launch of direct flights to Accra, Ghana, and Kigali, Rwanda, marking another major step in the national carrier's growth strategy.

Uganda Airlines Expands African Network with New Direct Accra and Kigali Flights

The airline announced that it will begin operating four weekly flights between Entebbe and Accra starting October 27, 2026, using its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Less than a month later, on November 18, Uganda Airlines will introduce daily flights to Kigali aboard its Bombardier CRJ900 fleet.

The expansion comes as the airline continues to strengthen its presence across the African continent by improving direct connections between Uganda and key commercial and tourism destinations.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Ato Girma Wake described the launch of the two routes as a significant milestone for the airline, saying the new services will help unlock greater opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment while connecting Uganda to important regional hubs that have long been underserved. The airline's broader network expansion strategy has been highlighted by management in recent months as part of efforts to improve connectivity and grow market share.

The Accra route is expected to provide travelers with easier access to West Africa, creating new opportunities for business executives, investors, students, and tourists. Meanwhile, the daily Kigali service is designed to strengthen links between Uganda and Rwanda, making travel more convenient for families, corporate travelers, and visitors moving between the neighboring countries.

News of the new destinations has generated excitement among travelers and aviation enthusiasts, with many welcoming the increased frequency and the convenience of avoiding lengthy connecting flights through other regional hubs.

Uganda Airlines has confirmed that bookings for both routes are now open through its official booking platform, allowing passengers to begin planning travel ahead of the inaugural flights.

The latest expansion underscores the airline's ambition to position Entebbe International Airport as a stronger regional gateway while enhancing Uganda's connectivity with the rest of Africa through direct, reliable air services.
